I rarely get goosebumps but a shiver went down my spine last night when I finally received images from the stunningly gorgeous Annabella Asvik, who got married to her equally gorgeous American fiance. Annabella is one of those multitalented people with an ethical online boutique, a successful career as a TV presenter and a blogger. She is no ordinary person so it was safe to assume that this was not going to be an ordinary dress either.
With custom made dresses, we normally do face-to-face meeting to meet the bride, take the measurements, make the pattern then make the dress. For the whole process, we normally say a minimum of 6 weeks is required, preferably 8 weeks. This dress was designed on a single Skype call, a call that I truly enjoyed and got to know Annabella. She was brave enough to take her own measurements, instructed by my pattern cutter Marjut. I sourced the lace (she trusted my taste which was amazing but scary at the same time). The silk was specifically sourced as we were only able to use peace silk, which has beautiful organic feel and matt finish. Marjut made a custom made pattern which was then sent to our team of skilled seamstresses and they whipped it together in one day. This whole process took only 7 days from London to New York ( via Finland)!!!! I still cannot believe we did and receiving the images was amazing and demonstrated what trust and great teamwork can achieve. She looked absolutely stunning wearing the dress and our Nelly veil.
